In 2012, Intel announced a new vision: "This decade we will create and extend computing technology to connect and enrich the lives of every person on earth." In order to deliver on such an ambitious goal while simultaneously keeping the business running flawlessly, Intel realized that they needed to build a strong leadership pipeline.
As a result, Intel invested in a number of management and leadership development programs to support employees at every stage of the leadership spectrum from first-time managers to senior managers.
- New Managers – the "New to Management" program was designed to support new managers throughout their first year of leading people. It builds a strong support network that enables new managers to lead highly-engaged teams and obtain great business results.
- Experienced Managers – an online Manager Dashboard was constructed to help managers run the people side of their business. This tool includes resources such as core instructor-led courses, online performance training, and support modules.
- Senior Leaders – the Leadership Summit was designed to educate, align, and inspire Intel’s global top leaders. These leaders are then able to transfer their knowledge to their own teams, positively impacting practices and performance.
These three management initiatives have helped Intel build a strong leadership pipeline. They have resulted in positive business results, including a below-market turnover rate, higher productivity rate, and a better quality of output.
